Groovy Otter started with a simple frustration: every time the wind or swell turned on in Blouberg, getting a car that could actually carry a board or kite setup — and still fit down a sandy access road — was harder than it should be.
So we built the rental company we wished existed: a small fleet of fully-kitted Suzuki Jimnys, based right in Blouberg, ready to go whenever the forecast says go.
Right now, Groovy Otter is built around one customer: surfers and kitesurfers visiting or living in the Cape Town area who need a compact 4x4 that can handle beach access roads, carry gear properly, and not cost a fortune to rent for a few days or a season.
Jimny rentals are just the start. We're building toward guided and self-drive 4x4 route-planning trips — multi-day adventures through the Western Cape's mountain passes and coastal tracks — using the same fleet and local knowledge. Read more about what's coming.
